Hembrug traditionally specializes in tailor made solutions to customer needs for the finish machining of hardened steel parts up to HRC 68. The Mikrogrind® 1400 V allows both finish hard turning and random pattern finish grinding of ultra-precise hardened steel parts in one set-up. The Mikrogrind® 1400 V uses a 18 tonnes black granite portal machine base as a platform to accommodate a highly prec
ise 200 rpm rotary table and two hydrostatic and robust slide assemblies. On the left side of the machine a new flat type slide assembly (X and Z axis) accommodates two Sandvik Capto C5 tool holders. This slide assembly allows high precision hard turning of ø 1400 mm parts both inner and outer diameters. The hydrostatic slide assembly on the right side (U and W axis) accommodate a NC controlled rotary table having 70°rotation window. On the rotary table a hydrostatic swiveling unit is constructed to describe very precise 180°rotations around the C-axis. The newly developed swiveling unit has a ± 3 mm Y-axis and a custom built 2.000 rpm GMN grinding spindle designed to perform cross shape finish grinding operations on the previously finish turned hardened steel parts. The cup type grinding wheel is in full contact with the part and therefore produces perfect spheres.
The Hembrug Mikrogrind® 1400 V is meeting customer specific demands on surface quality and topography and provides the best of both worlds: finish hard turning and finish grinding in one ultra precision machine. The Mikrogrind® 1400 V accommodates parts having max. diameter of ø 1400 mm and 400 mm height. The machine weight is 30 tonnes and does not require separate foundation. The first machine of this nature is scheduled for delivery to our German customer in the second halve of 2010.
