Hembrug Machine Tools has entered into a partnership with the stone honing company PTGoldAU UG for the exclusive supply of stone finish technology, called KombiFin. The partnership relates to hard turning and cylindrical grinding machines only. PTGoldAU UG, headquartered in Magdeburg, Germany has been working since 2017, after more than 15 years of research , on high-precision surface finishing technology on modern CNC machine tools. As part of this exclusive partnership Hembrug will supply PT Gold with a Mikroturn® 100. They will use this machine for testing and development work.
The stone honing process is long-established and is used, among other things, in the finishing of critical sealing and bearing surfaces on for example drive shafts for hydraulic pumps. The KombiFin technology incorporates a small stone finish unit that can be easily integrated into modern CNC machine tools. A separate finishing operation on a dedicated machine is therefore no longer necessary.
Thanks to the integration of these systems in the Hembrug Mikroturn® hard turning machines, the finishing process is now also available for manufacturers of small to medium-sized production runs over a wide variety of workpiece types. For example, it is now possible to achieve turn-free surface structure integrity that previously could not be achieved thru hard turning only. The stone honing unit mounts directly into the tool changer. The rotation of the workpiece and the movement of the stone finish unit are carried out by the hard turning machine. The oscillation of the stone tool and the contact force are controlled by the force sensing unit. The process can be cooled with either oil or water soluble coolant.
Hard turning and ultra-fine surface finishing can now take place on only one machine. This saves process steps, costs and results in a very low surface finish (< 0.3 µm Rz) and form accuracy. (< 2 µm). Hembrug also has a test machine arranged with this new technology at its facilities in the Netherlands and has already successfully carried out various tests.

Hembrug Machine Tools heeft een overeenkomst gesloten met PTGoldAU UG voor de exclusieve levering van steenfinishtechnologie, KombiFin genaamd. De exclusieve levering geldt alleen voor harddraai- en rondslijpmachines. PTGoldAU UG, met hoofdzetel in Maagdenburg, Duitsland werkt sinds 2017 aan de marktintroductie van hoognauwkeurige oppervlaktebewerkingstechnologie op moderne CNC-machines na meer dan 15 jaar onderzoek. Tegenover de exclusieve levering stelt Hembrug aan PTGoldAU UG een Mikroturn 100 hoognauwkeurige hard-draaimachine ter beschikking. Zij zullen deze gebruiken voor proeven en jobber gerelateerde werkzaamheden.
Het finish proces is een al lang bestaand proces en wordt onder andere ingezet bij het bewerken van kritische afdichting- en lagerzittingen op bijvoorbeeld aandrijfassen voor hydraulische pompen. Het gaat hierbij dan om een proces met grote aantallen, met één type werkstuk en waarbij de voorbewerking en nabewerking op afzonderlijke machines wordt uitgevoerd. De KombiFin-technologie betreft echter kleine, sensorische steenbewerkingsunits die eenvoudig in moderne CNC-bewerkingsmachines kunnen worden geïntegreerd. Een nabewerking op een afzonderlijke machine is daardoor niet meer nodig.
Door de integratie van deze systemen in de Hembrug Mikroturn® harddraaimachines is het finishproces nu ook beschikbaar voor fabrikanten van kleine tot middelgrote series met een variabel werkstuk spectrum. Zo kunnen zij bijvoorbeeld een spiraalvrije oppervlaktestructuur realiseren die alleen met harddraaien niet mogelijk is. De steenfinish-unit wordt eenvoudig in de gereedschapswisselaar gemonteerd. De rotatie van het werkstuk en de beweging van de steenfinish unit wordt dus door de harddraai machine uitgevoerd. De oscillatie van het steenfinish gereedschap en de contactkracht wordt door de besturingsunit geregeld. Het proces kan zowel met olie als met emulsie worden gekoeld.
De voor- en nabewerking vindt nu dus op één machine plaatsvinden. Dit bespaart processtappen, kosten en kan een zeer lage oppervlakte (< 0,3 µm Rz) en vormnauwkeurigheid. ( < 2 µm) worden bereikt. Hembrug beschikt over een testmachine met deze nieuwe KombiFin steenfinish technologie en heeft reeds met succes diverse testen uitgevoerd.
